Time hasn't made immigration reform easier
WASHINGTON -- Immigration, after 10 months on the president's back burner, got its very own trial balloon the other day. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano went before a friendly crowd at a liberal think tank Friday and proclaimed that the time has come for comprehensive reform -- a goal that has eluded Congress so many times, it has become a third rail of American politics. It's different now, she argued: Border security is tighter than ever. Inflows of illegal immigrants have dropped by half. Benchmarks for fencing much of the border and roughly doubling the Border Patrol have been met. Lawmakers have hashed out the arguments so many times, the next debate can be streamlined.

The only immigration reform required is 'Enforce Existing Immigration Laws'.

Jannet N., you are a shameless liar, -even for a politician. -About the only thing you said that had any truth is that there are more border patroll officers now. Otherwise, the border is pretty much wide open, thousands of people sitill entering illegally, and since mexico in in dire straights, despite our recession the U.S. is still a far friendlier place to enter. -Especially when illegals start using our social programs, and then use anothe identity for work, or just work under the table.

I found out today that the tea party groups and the anti-immigrant groups have joined forces. That is the best thing that they could have done. Because with many more protesters with signs the MSM can't ignore them and neither can the white house.

I really don't think that a immigration proposal that congress could get passed, without getting lynched, is a proposal that Barak Obama would sign. He would need to veto the bill that I feel would include felony charges for illegal entry and employment of illegals. He is a young lawyer and he isn't nearly rich enough for a player. He will only get one term so he has to go to work in 2013. Another book won't do it so he needs a constituency to champion for. Reading his book, "Audacity to hope," he says that he really likes illegals. I figure he will base his future on illegals, but he can't make congress slit their political throats for his give-a-way. Sorry Paco, you need to invade China.

It is obvious that the fukin Dimocrats are looking at future votes and tax-payers be DAMNED!!! Not giving any pardons to the RINOS either. They are in a suking competition as far as I am concerned. In Reply to Anonyma: The government is here to serve the majority. Should it fail to do so we do have options that were put into the constitution for protection from the kind of tyrants that the founders wrote the constitution in response to in the first place. There is a clause where we can throw them out on their fukin azzes if they determine that they are above the will of the people. Hasn't been used yet. Doesn't mean it won't be.....

In Reply to Brad: Thank you, Brad, for making this report on the posts that you found. I believe that Americans do not want "instant citizens" created from criminals who break our laws from the moment that they cross the border or overstay their visa.

The real question is -- does the government care what we want?
From Gorilla - 16 Nov 2009 @ 07:10 am
The only immigration reform that's required is enforcing our immigration laws. The administration, congress and the news-media never mention 'Illegal Immigration'. "Justice delayed is justice denied" to all American citizens when any and all laws are not enforced.

Nepolitano's statement "Tough and fair pathway to to earned legal status" is a delay till they figure a way to push though 'Amnesty' for 12,000,000 to 20,000,000 'Illegal Immigrants' which is opposed by +70% of American citizens.

Regardless of political leanings, Americans are not going to support an amnesty. I visit a variety of sites as I wander the web. This past weekend I was at both RawStory and the San Francisco Chronicle sites. Both are regarded as being fairly liberal sites. The response to the Napolitano story had people pissed. I read thru the first 50 posts at the chronicle and not a one was in favor of an amnesty. In the limited number of posts at RS, there was only 1 out of about 25 that supported amnesty. I think the only support for amnesty is coming from the ethnic special interests, those who favor globalism, and the far left fringe. Bush, Reid and Pelosi got their collective asses handed to them last time. The public is even more angered now. People are just plain pissed.

I think the Napolitano speech was meant to test the waters and an attempt to throw the amnesty crowd a cracker. The O doesn't want to be a one termer and if he tries to cram this down the public's throat, he will be. I just read again that the house healthcare bill is dying in the senate. If healthcare is a no go, immigration doesn't have a chance. The public is much more divided on healthcare.

Of course what the public thinks often is not as important as money. It wasn't too long ago the majority of the public was against any form of bank and Wall Street bailouts, but the bastards went with it anyway. I just hope that the public doesn't forget what a bunch of traitorous leeches these people are next election. Vote everyone of them out.
